We just returned from Eagle River, WI. My family spent the 4th of July “up north” visiting with family and friends. The 4th has always been one of the holidays that we really enjoy. Who doesn’t like friends, family, cookouts, cold beer, games, fishing, boating and the kids favorite, tubing?
My grandpa, Grandpa Koski, was in the Iron River parade. Grandpa is an 88-year-old WWII veteran. At 88 he is still very sharp and has a great sense of humor. He also uses his age to get out of anything that grandma accuses him of. Grandpa is a great example of the sacrifices that many have made so we can enjoy the freedom we are blessed to have. He has a piece of shrapnel next to his spine from a bomb that went off in the area he was working on planes.
We spent yesterday on the lake pulling the kids on the tube and watching the bald eagles fly. There are several nests on the chain of lakes. It is always awesome to watch these magnificent birds. How fitting to get to watch our nations symbol of freedom on the 4th of July weekend.
